Driving IT performance.

The situation

ODC-N has efficient and well-utilised platforms. They needed strategically aligned metrics and evidence that any change will provide benefit to the organisation. This includes providing business cases covering optimised space, lower cost and decreased energy and carbon use per operation.

Simulations enable platform and engineering teams to make decisions on IT hardware that achieve the best outcomes for them and their customers. Component level changes have large impacts on efficiency and effectiveness so specific datasets and benchmarks are required.

What we did

Interact analysed the current server estate and delivered key metrics, reporting and simulations helping ODC-N understand the impact of change.

Working with the engineering team, replacement models were analysed on both max capacity and energy efficiency per operation. The suggested projects allocated the hardware configurations that would deliver 21% energy and carbon reduction for the platform while increasing capacity.

It reduced the physical footprint and provided all reporting required for data centre regulations such as the Energy Efficiency Directive, CSRD and European Union Data Centre code of Conduct.

• Increased platform performance and larger total capacity
